We didn't get home and the kids in bed until a little after 10 but decided to meet the Fehrenbachs for breakfast this morning at 8am no less. It was a bit of a rush to get us out the door to make our bus but we made it. Alicia recommended the restaurant and I had read that it gets crowded so we wanted to make sure we were there with plenty of time. We were not disappointed. Chloe's received great reviews and the staff said it has been there for 26 years, occupying the same footprint without a need of a website b/c of their reputation. I had cinnamon croissant french toast with strawberries which was too yummy! Brent had an omelette which he enjoyed and them kids had pancakes. Nonni joined us so we had a fun family breakfast - again an unexpected double treat because the Fehrenbachs treated! Opa joined us at the end after being out for a walk. It was great to get another chance to visit with everyone! We sure do miss seeing the Fehrenbachs but love when we do get to see them.
The Fehrenbachs headed off to an adventure of baseball and shopping.
After leaving the restaurant Opa recommended a pic next a firetruck right up the road. As were snapping the picture the firemen came out and offered to have the kids ride in the front seat of the truck which they did and had a blast - so fun of the firemen to offer.
Brent, myself and the kids then headed off to attend worship at Glide Memorial Methodist church. Brent and I attended in 1999 when we were last in San Fran and also attended Grace Cathedral which was a vastly different experience. Glide is known far and wide as a church that reaches out to the least of these. They are a very liberal congregation that has certainly caused its fair sure of controversy but they have a wide mission and ministry to the people of San Fran. They care deeply for the homeless community as well as provide healthcare to those disadvantaged in addition to reaching out those with addictions and the LGBTQ community. The service was one of spirited music lead by a live band and gospel choir. Most of the service was actually music today which I didn't know if that was typical. We didn't have time to make the Grace Cathedral again but would welcome the opportunity.
After church we made our way to another metro stop, while grabbing a quick slice of pizza and pretzel for the kids, on our way to the Golden Gate Park. We also made a last minute stop into Posh Bagel which was just so yummy! Brent and shared a bagel sandwich that was crammed with veggies that really hit the spot since we were mostly still stuffed from breakfast. It appeared, once we were in the Park that an AIDS walk had taken place so it was quite crowded but we found the playground and carousal so all was well with the kids :) The parks and playgrounds have been so very fun to explore with the kids. Sam took a spill and ended up taking a nap on my lap but both would say they had a great time. We headed back again via mass transit to our airbnb for a brief rest before being hosted by the Hedges for some leftovers and fellowship. When asking the kids what their favorite time has been they consistently say everything! I would call that a sign of a great trip.
