Our trip home

Since our flight out wasn't until the afternoon we decided to enjoy some last minute playground time. As our last meal in the city, we headed to a small breakfast place we saw called Moonlight Cafe. When we walked in, there were maybe 8 patrons in the place but 2 of them were wearing suits and had visible ear pieces - it was the first time I had seen "secret service" type people. After looking around we thought that they might be protecting a gentleman who was meeting with a lady over a cup of coffee. Later we found out (after sharing a pic I had snuck) that it happened to be the mayor of San Fran - guess that meant it was a good place to eat :). The food was definitely yummy - the kids had pancakes, I had walnut french toast and Brent had scrumptious egg dish with eggplant and other veggies. After finishing, we made one last stop at the GoodLife grocery for some airport food supplies.

We packed up and cleaned up our airbnb place and headed over to John and Judy's to say goodbye. We enjoyed chatting and the kids (as always) enjoyed playing with the legos they had - in fact it was hard to pull them away from the legos so we could play at the park a bit. But we did finally manage that so we enjoyed some more time at Holly Park.

We found getting settled in the airport quite easy - the rental car return was a piece of cake and security was a breeze. They had a family security line which was such a blessing - so we didn't feel we were being rushed and they were great with the kids. We got to our gate with about an hour and a half to spare - or so we thought . . . . We soon noticed a couple of black hawk helicopters and marine helicopters that had landed and were moving to a hanger. Turns out the President had been for a visit and those helicopters had just escorted him out of the airspace. . . .which meant our plane was delayed in landing and therefore we were delayed in taking off. But we finally lifted off and made good time on the way home. Thanks to Opa for meeting us at the airport with our car even though it was 1230am EST! The kids were fantastic! They are such good travelers - I so look forward to more adventures as a family.
