We are on an adventure. The first really big trip with the kids. One of Brent's cousins is getting married outside of San Fran and most of the family is coming so we definitely were in. This was the first flight for Sam and the longest for Hannah (she was only 3 months on her first one). They did great! We flew direct from RDU to SFO, taking 6 hours. Nonni and Opa flew on the same flight which made getting to the plane easier. The kids were real troopers - the entire day. The weather is fantastic - sunny but with a cool breeze. Once we got our rental car figured out, we headed to Trader Joe's for some morning essentials because we are staying in an Air BnB for the first time and wanted to have our own supplies. We are renting from a nice lady who spends her summers in Italy. I must admit it is a bit weird b/c it is exactly like staying in someone's home. VRBO is certainly more the standard - you rent a place but it isn't their primary residence. AirBnB isn't always like that so we are definitely getting a taste of life in the city. The street outside the place is a sight - so steep that I feel if you lose footing you are going to tumble head over heels but I am afraid none of the pictures will do it justice.
Once we got settled we headed out to find a playground to let the kids burn off some steam. We found a great little playground behind the Bernal Heights library. We then stopped at the Good Life grocery store - a fun little organic/local grocer - to get some ice cream. Finally we headed over to Holly Park which has fantastic views and great playground. We then headed to Uncle John's and Aunt Judy's house were we got to see cousins Andrew (the groom), Richard and then Andrea and met Molly along with Aunt Wendy and Uncle Mike and Nonni and Opa. John and Judy have a fantastic place - with beautiful gardens! We had a good time hanging out a bit while letting the kids warm up to everyone again. We then headed out to dinner with Nonni and Opa and the Fehrenbach clan to a fantastic Italian place called Vega. It was scrumptious and so much fun to catch up! Then hope to bed to try to reset our clocks. Not sure what we will do tomorrow but it will prove to be an adventure.
